Machine Tool Applications Engineer
Location: Coventry + International Travel
Salary: £45,000 +Overtime and Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm | Friday 7:30am–3:00pm
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Machine Tool Applications Engineer to join a highly respected precision engineering environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with advanced CNC technology, support global customers, and play a key role in delivering high-performance machining solutions.
You will be involved in everything from programming and process optimisation through to machine installation, customer training, and technical support—both in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and optimise CNC programs (primarily Siemens 840D)
- Set and operate machines to produce high-precision components
- Program and set up grinding processes for customer sample parts
- Improve machining cycles and efficiency through process development
- Support machine build, testing, and final acceptance (PDI)
- Install machines on-site globally and deliver customer training
- Provide technical support pre- and post-sale
- Conduct time studies and tooling recommendations
- Support continuous improvement and product development initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience with 3–5 axis CNC programming and setting
- Strong knowledge of Siemens controls (840D preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Experience in grinding (threads, gears, worms) – desirable
- Confident communicator with the ability to train and support customers
- Flexible and willing to travel internationally
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Competent with standard office software and reporting
