📍 Coventry (with occasional overseas travel)
💰 £40,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience)
🕒 Full-time | Permanent
⏰ Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm | Friday 7:30am – 3:00pm

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join a well-established precision engineering business specialising in high-performance CNC machine tools.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong commissioning experience and a passion for working with advanced automation and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission CNC machine tools to a high standard
• Test electrical control and safety circuits
• Configure, load and test PLC and CNC control systems (primarily Siemens)
• Carry out measuring system calibrations and prepare machines for production trials
• Load and test CNC systems, HMIs, and servo drives
• Design control circuits (hardware and PLC)
• Conduct full functional testing to meet product and contract specifications
• Ensure compliance with CE / UKCA standards
• Provide technical support to customers when required

About You

• Able to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
• Experience working with AC/DC low voltage control circuits
• Proven experience commissioning inverter drives and servo motors
• Strong understanding of sensors, actuators and automation systems
• Confident fault-finding across electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Good working knowledge of CNC machine tools
• Experience programming PLCs using TIA Portal / STEP 7
• Comfortable using PC systems including Windows, Office, TIA/STEP 7 and EPLAN
• Basic NC programming knowledge (Siemens 840D experience advantageous)
