About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering complex projects within the UK water industry.

This role is ideal for a technically strong Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions across LV/HV and ICA systems.

You will play a key role in managing the technical and quality aspects of electrical engineering design packages while working closely with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, manufacturers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality electrical engineering designs in line with project requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations
• Deliver electrical calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design drawings for water industry projects
• Lead and support CAD technicians, junior engineers, and graduate engineers
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontract electrical design teams and review/check technical outputs
• Liaise with equipment suppliers, manufacturers, and project stakeholders
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant technical, professional, and company standards
• Manage design changes and ensure all revisions are correctly implemented and documented
• Provide accurate estimates for engineering design hours and resource requirements
• Attend and present at technical meetings, design reviews, and client presentations
• Support multidisciplinary project delivery across electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement and technical excellence across the engineering team

Requirements

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Electrical Design Engineering within the water industry
• Strong background in LV electrical design
• Experience producing electrical calculations, reports, and technical specifications
• Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Good understanding of engineering drawing standards and practices
• Strong IT and engineering software skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Registered with a professional engineering institution and working towards Chartership

Desirable Experience

• Chartered Engineer status
• Experience with HV, LV, and ICA design
• Experience in control systems and/or telecoms engineering
• Knowledge of ATEX regulations and hazardous area design
• Understanding of construction methods and materials used within infrastructure projects
