We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Senior Buyer to join a fast-paced and growing organisation within the electrical and lighting sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional who thrives on strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, and driving operational excellence.

The successful candidate will take ownership of sourcing and procurement activities across key product categories, with a primary focus on lighting products under a well-established brand portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring continuity of supply, delivering cost savings, improving supplier performance, and supporting business growth.

This role offers genuine influence within the business and the opportunity to work cross-functionally with supply chain, product development, inventory, finance, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Lead sourcing and procurement activities for products for resale.
• Develop and implement category strategies to improve cost, quality, and service.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across global supply chains.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements to deliver best value.
• Manage supplier performance, service levels, and continuous improvement activities.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers aligned with quality and sustainability standards.

Commercial & Strategic Focus

• Deliver measurable cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives.
• Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks.
• Manage new product introduction projects from concept through to supplier nomination.
• Conduct benchmarking activities to maintain market competitiveness.
• Support budgeting and forecasting through accurate procurement reporting and analysis.

Supply Chain & Operational Support

• Work closely with planners and inventory teams to optimise stock availability.
• Minimise risks relating to shortages, delays, or supplier constraints.
• Support resolution of supply chain issues to minimise disruption to customers and operations.

Data, Systems & Reporting

• Maintain accurate supplier and purchasing data within ERP/MRP systems.
• Develop and manage procurement KPIs including:
  • Supplier OTIF performance
  • Cost savings
  • Purchase price variance
  • Lead times and service levels
• Produce clear and actionable reports for senior leadership teams.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work collaboratively across procurement, supply chain, logistics, finance, and customer service teams.
• Support and influence stakeholders across the business.
• Help drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

• Strong background in procurement, sourcing, and category management.
• Experience negotiating supplier contracts and commercial agreements.
• Excellent supplier relationship management skills.
• Strong understanding of supply chain operations, inventory, and demand planning.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, suppliers, and priorities simultaneously.
• Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable

• Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies.
• Knowledge of supplier risk management or contract law.
• CIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
• Degree qualified in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or related discipline.
