The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Buyer looking for a role where you can make a real impact on business performance?
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to join a successful and growing manufacturing business in Staffordshire. You’ll play a key role in ensuring materials are sourced on time, at the right quality and the best possible cost, supporting production while driving continuous improvements across the supply chain.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys supplier negotiation, building long-term relationships and finding smarter ways to improve purchasing performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage the procurement of materials to support production requirements.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to improve quality, cost and delivery performance.
- Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms and lead times.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues quickly.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure continuity of supply while minimising excess stock.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Commercial and Quality teams.
- Support supplier development, cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Analyse demand forecasts and place purchase orders accordingly.
- Help improve stock management through Kanban, VMI, Min/Max and other inventory control methods.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with Buyers who have:
- Previous purchasing or procurement experience within manufacturing or engineering.
- Strong supplier negotiation skills.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and delivery performance.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good commercial awareness and cost reduction experience.
- ERP/MRP system experience (Business Central experience would be advantageous).
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Performance Measures
You’ll play a major part in delivering:
- 2% annual purchase cost reduction
- Supplier delivery performance above 90%
- 99%+ On Time In Full (OTIF) performance
- Continuous improvements in supplier quality and inventory management
