Mechanical Machine Tool Fitter
Location: Coventry (with some overseas travel required)
Salary: £35,000 per annum with lots of Overtime and Benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 3:00pm

Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturer of precision machine tools, supplying high-spec equipment to a global customer base.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Machine Tool Fitter with a strong background in precision assembly and machine builds. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident working to tight tolerances on complex mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble precision machine tools from engineering and assembly drawings
- Carry out mechanical fitting of complex components, including bearings, shafts, and alignments
- Work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Perform hand scraping of mating surfaces to achieve accurate alignment
- Complete drilling, tapping, and sub-assembly work
- Cut and prepare sheet metal components where required
- Install and assemble mechanical systems, including pipework and structural components
- Support installation of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (mechanical side)
- Use toolroom machinery (lathes, mills, grinders) where required
- Safely operate lifting equipment including slings and overhead cranes
- Support machine build, test, and occasional customer site work
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong background in mechanical fitting / machine tool assembly / heavy machinery builds
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Experience working with precision components and tight tolerances
- Solid hands-on skills with mechanical tools and assembly techniques
Desirable
- Experience with machine tool builds
- Forklift truck licence
