Starkey Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Fitter on behalf of an established engineering business based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, supporting customers across the automotive sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking for a secure, hands-on engineering position offering a competitive basic salary of up to £40,000 plus plenty of overtime, providing excellent overall earning potential.

You will join an experienced engineering team working on specialist resistance welding machinery, including new and refurbished equipment supplied to a wide range of clients within the automotive industry.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for:

• Overhauling, repairing and refurbishing mechanical parts, machinery and equipment
• Carrying out mechanical fitting and assembly work on new and existing equipment
• Identifying worn or damaged components and completing repairs or replacements
• Supporting ongoing engineering projects, including new equipment installations
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering schematics
• Completing parts requisitions to help maintain stock levels and minimise downtime
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company health and safety procedures
• Working closely with other members of the engineering team
• Undertaking additional training where required to develop your skills and capabilities
• Working additional hours when required, with plenty of overtime opportunities available

About You

To be considered for this position, you should ideally have:

• A relevant engineering apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on mechanical engineering experience
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Assembly Fitter or similar
• Good mechanical fitting, fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• The ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• A good understanding of engineering health and safety procedures
• Good communication skills

Experience working with resistance welding machines or other welding equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications would also be beneficial.

Salary & Hours

Basic Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum, depending on experience

Overtime: Plenty of overtime is available, giving you the opportunity to significantly increase your overall annual earnings.

Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 2:00pm
